Confirm the exact remaining cover using the VIN and manufacturer records rather than assuming it transfers automatically in every situation. This is the single most valuable check on the list.
Ask for battery-health information
A battery does not need 100% of its original capacity to be useful. What matters is whether the remaining range fits your driving.
Where possible, obtain a state-of-health report or manufacturer diagnostic information, and compare the displayed range under realistic conditions — motorway speeds in cold weather, not a summer showroom figure.

EV weight and instant torque can accelerate tyre wear, so budget for tyres sooner than you might on an equivalent petrol car. Regenerative braking may reduce friction-brake use, but discs can still corrode from underuse.
Inspect suspension and alignment carefully, especially on heavier models.

Once general manufacturer protection ends, independent EV-compatible warranty options may help manage eligible mechanical and electrical repair risk.
